Art News!
Thrilled to be included in the Downtown Houston+ Public Art Project as part of this holidays for Snow Glow on the Bayou! The project is part of a creative coding piece title “Bright Lights” with an original music composition. The event goes on from Dec 20-29th. link https://downtownhouston.org/do/snow-glow-on-the-bayou
The projection is inspired by the Houston skyline and is a striking testament to the city’s spirit of innovation, resilience, and diversity. Towering above the sprawling urban landscape, its blend of modern skyscrapers, historic buildings, and dynamic architecture reflects Houston’s role as a global hub for energy, medicine, and the arts.
The bright lights of the Houston skyline are more than a visual spectacle—they’re an emblem of the aspiration of this Lone Star State and its creative spirit. They inspire viewers to dream big, capturing the city’s ethos of endless possibilities. For viewers, these lights provide a palette of inspiration, for residents, a beacon of home, and for visitors, an unforgettable impression of a city that never stops reaching for new heights.
The work is based on a series of creative code investigative sketches in movement and sound. If you are at all curious go check out the D side on SIM Waves. https://shermanfinch.com/wordpress/?portfolio=sound-interaction-motion
A huge thank you to Ann Taylor, the selection team, and everyone at Downtown Houston+ for this incredible opportunity.
A big shoutout to @Scott Justis from One Experiential for leading the Snow Glow production and on December 20th. I’m looking forward to seeing BrightLights come to life as it reflects across Houston’s iconic waterways on a four-story tall water screen.
Stay tuned for updates, and thank you to everyone who continues to support my journey. Let’s light up the season together!
