The Roswell Museum is a hidden Jewell to the state, filled with incredibly gifted contemporary artists from all over New Mexico. Here is a break down of both venues.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Currents New Media 2016<\/h3>\n<p>Currents New Media is Festival \/ Collaboration between Parallel Studios, its partners throughout New Mexico and volunteers who invest their time and support. Parallel Studios is a non-profit organization that curates and produces small to large scale exhibitions in Santa Fe since 2002. In 2010 they launched <strong>CURRENTS NEW MEDIA<\/strong> as an annual, citywide event. The Festival brings together the work of established and emerging New Media artists, from New Mexico, the US and around the World, for events showcases interactive and fine art installations, multimedia performances, single channel video, animation, digital dome programs, experimental documentary,web based\/app art forms, projection and virtual realities, robotics and 3D printing.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival introduces the public to new technology molded by artists into vehicles for expression and the communication of ideas, broadening the definition of art making in the 21st century. Throughout this community with opportunities to experience New Media Arts in traditional venues, public and outdoor spaces. Over\u00a07,000\u00a0visitors attended festival events in 2016. The Festival is enjoyed by a broad demographic \u2013 children spinning through the galleries reveling in interactive New Media \u2013 seniors contemplating image and meaning \u2013 working class families \u2013 and savvy collectors<\/p>\n<h4>Mission<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To present the work of emerging and established video and new media artists through its <strong>CURRENTS NEW MEDIA<\/strong> exhibitions.<\/li>\n<li>To foster an international exchange of this art form by inviting foreign artists to\u00a0present work at our exhibits and by establishing international connections in order to\u00a0present the work of U.S. artists abroad.<\/li>\n<li>To give the community at large the chance to experience the latest in the video\u00a0arts in a open and non-intimidating environment and to provide docent tours to\u00a0expand the general public\u2019s understanding of the medium. We have always made\u00a0it a principle that our exhibits are free to the public so as not to discourage those\u00a0unfamiliar with this form from visiting the exhibitions. We are committed to a\u00a0non-discriminatory and inclusive approach to community involvement. To this end Parallel Studios designs group installations that offer the public an\u00a0intriguing invitation to new media. Though our exhibit designs are first and\u00a0foremost grounded in service to beauty and excellence we also create and design\u00a0with exploration, playfulness and accessibility in mind. Our exhibits present a\u00a0diversity of staging formats and aesthetic concerns \u2013 installational, site specific,\u00a0projected and interactive video \u2013 all unified by the artists\u2019 overarching commitment\u00a0to an unbridled approach to what defines the world of new media.<\/li>\n<li>To create an environment for the participating artists that is conducive to the\u00a0sharing of information and experience. Selected artists present lectures and hands\u00a0on workshops which are open to artists and the public.<\/li>\n<li>To engage youth in this art form by presenting their work at our exhibitions and by\u00a0inviting youth groups to attend the exhibits.\u00a0Knowledgeable docents are available to guide them through the exhibit and\u00a0answer their questions.<\/li>\n<li>To establish a program of video art presentations at local high schools in order to\u00a0introduce students to this art form and encourage them to create work that may be\u00a0presented at our exhibitions.<\/li>\n<li>To recruit college and high school students to participate as interns in the mounting\u00a0and maintenance of the exhibitions as a learning experience.<\/li>\n<li>To organize traveling exhibitions not necessarily focused on large urban art\u00a0centers but to take this new art form to smaller towns that would not normally have\u00a0the opportunity to experience this type of work.<\/li>\n<li>To archive and present the works of our artists on an online exhibition space.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Roswell Museum and Art Center<\/h3>\n<p>The <b>Roswell Museum and Art Center<\/b> is located in <a title=\"Roswell, New Mexico\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Roswell,_New_Mexico\">Roswell, New Mexico<\/a>, United States, and features exhibits about the art and history of the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"American Southwest\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_Southwest\">American Southwest<\/a>. Exhibits include fine art, sculpture, prints, decorative arts, and historic artifacts.<\/p>\n<p>The museum operates the Patricia Lubben Bassett Art Education Center, which opened in 1998 as a learning facility in the state of New Mexico.
