I was selected to participate in The Billboard Creative, a Los Angeles–based public art initiative that transforms commercial billboards into platforms for contemporary art.

Unlike traditional gallery settings, The Billboard Creative situates artwork directly within the everyday visual landscape of the city. These works aren’t encountered intentionally — they’re stumbled upon during commutes, pauses at intersections, and moments of transition. That shift in context radically changes how art is read and experienced.

Why It Still Matters

Years later, this experience remains a touchstone. It represents an early moment where my work stepped beyond institutional boundaries and into the civic realm — a space where art becomes part of daily life rather than a destination.

The Billboard Creative demonstrated that public art doesn’t need permanence to be impactful. Sometimes, a brief interruption is enough to change how a city looks — or how someone moves through it.

Read more about the project on The Billboard Creative’s website.

Billboard Creative gets a write up in “Creators Project”.
